IBM Donates $1,000 to United Way

Shelly Smidt, United Way Board Member and IBM employee applied to IBM for a Community Grant. The $1,000 grant was given to United Way Regina in recognition of Shelley’s continued and extensive volunteerism in our community.

Brandt Group of Companies Donates $100,000 to United Way!

As part of their Thanks a Billion campaign the Brandt Group of Companies donated $100,000 to United Way Regina.

Throughout 2012 Brandt will be featuring special “Thanks a Billion” announcements, gifts, offers and events. It’s their way of acknowledging everyone who had a part in Brandt reaching the historic milestone of $1 billion in annual revenue.

The Co-operators Exceeded Their Goal by $31,000

The Co-operators held a Volunteer Appreciation event at the Conexus Arts Centre for employees who have volunteered their time throughout the year. Part of the event was focused on their very successful 2011 United Way Campaign. Committee members flipped up numbers one-by-one, revealing the grand total of $251,000 raised for United Way Regina. That’s $31,000 over their goal of $220,000! This is evidence of a very successful campaign with increased participation, strong executive support and new donors at the Leaders level. By speaking with committee members it’s easy to see they also had a lot of fun along the way.

University of Regina Exceeds Campaign Goal

University of Regina President Dr. Vianne Timmons presented Daryl Marcia, United Way Circle of Care Campaign Chair with the University’s donation cheque of $107,074. The University exceeded its goal of $95,000.

Farm Credit Canada Launches United Way Campaign 2011

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) launched their national United Way campaign last week in Regina. FCC set a national goal of $375,000 in support of the communities where their employees live and work. Farm Credit Canada is United Way of Regina’s largest corporate partner whose relationship and work with us extends year around.

Global Reach – Local Touch

Viterra recently launched their United Way campaign by having team photos taken at United Way for their campaign posters. Bruce Hebert is leading the campaign at Viterra and is also a Vice Chair of our Campaign Cabinet.

Viterra is a world class company with a global reach but prides itself on its local touch of supporting the communities that its employees work and live in.

Farm Credit Canada helping the people
and communities they serve

As part of an ongoing partnership between Farm Credit Canada and United Way of Regina, Farm Credit Canada facilitated a series of workshops at the United Way. The United Way Funded Partners as well as other non-profit, community-based organizations in the human service sector were invited to attend the workshops at no cost.

These learning opportunities allowed many non-profit agencies to build their capacity and grow their knowledge. The topics included Project Management Made Easy, Having Difficult Conversations and Performance Management. The knowledge and experiences shared were extremely valuable and greatly appreciated.

Wheaton Chevrolet increased their participation from 28 to 63 donors and exceeded their goal of $12,000, raising $17,500 and a personal match from Mr. Wheaton made their total pledge $35,000.  Fantastic campaign! Thank you!

Pictured above is Christina from Regina Work Preparation Centre and Don Wolk, the Employee Campaign Coordinator for the City of Regina. Together they represent what United Way is all about: bringing people together to share their time, talents and gifts to improve the quality of life for all of us.

Regina Work Preparation Centre’s mission is to strengthen and increase the individual’s capacity to participate in the community, with a focus on employment or vocational pursuits. The Regina Work Preparation Centre is a community‐based charitable organization specializing in helping people who have multiple barriers looking for and finding work. They have served Regina and the surrounding area for more than 35 years.

Balfour Pennies for Points Campaign

United Way of Regina’s GenNext helped kickoff Balfour’s Pennies for Points campaign in support of United Way this week. The goal for each grade is to fill as many water containers with pennies as possible. The grade with the most money raised wins an afternoon off of class to enjoy a movie in the gym complete with food and refreshments.

To help kickoff the campaign, representatives from each grade were paired up with a teacher to compete as a relay team. Congrats to the Grade 9’s who won the relay race!
